Bereavement, grief and loss

Grief and loss begin at the point of diagnosis of a life limiting illness and continue through to the point of death and adjustment following the death. Understanding the breadth of reactions to grief and loss and recognising those family and caregivers who may be at greater risk for the longer-term implications of complicated grief is very important. Risk factors are described and the role of staff in seeking further support discussed here.
